Moscow, SANA – Russian General Staff on Thursday stressed that the armed groups utilized the moratorium on flights of the Russian and Syrian planes to launch attacks on residential neighborhoods in the western part of Aleppo city.
Lt. Gen. Sergei Rudskoy, chief of the Russian General Staff Main Operational Directorate said in statements published by Sputnik News Agency that the armed groups utilized moratorium on flights of the Russian and Syrian warplanes in an area 10 kilometers away from Aleppo and attempted to advance towards al-Assad Academy, pointing out that the terrorist attacks targeted also the Entertainment Park, the Cardboard Factory, Manian village and the 3000-Flat Project in the western part of the city.
He added that the situation in Aleppo is still the hardest in Syria as terrorists fired shells for 64 times during the past week on the western part of the city, leaving 127 people killed and 254 injured.
Terrorist organizations located in the eastern neighborhoods in Aleppo city fired on Sunday morning shells containing toxic materials at al-Hamadaniyeh neighborhood and al-Assad residential suburb, causing more than 35 cases of asphyxiation.
The Russian General pointed out that Nour-Ezzin al-Zinki terrorist movement considered by the West as “moderate opposition” declared that they will not leave Aleppo and will continue to fight there, which was no surprise for Russia.
The General Command of the Army and Armed Force announced on Wednesday that a 10-hour humanitarian pause will be applied in Aleppo next Friday from 9 am to 7 pm local time.
