Al-Jaafari: OPCW-UN report on chemical attacks in Syria full of gabs

New York, SANA – Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari asserted that the issue of chemical weapons has been fabricated to be used against the Syrian Government, saying there are a lot of gabs in the report of the UN Security Council on the use of chemical weapons in Syria.

Speaking to al-Mayadeen TV on Wednesday, al-Jaafari added that the final report of the chemical weapons inspectors’ team in Syria has not been come up yet, and what was published so far is based on false testimonies, adding that nearly 60 parties have been made to fabricate allegations against the Syrian government in the chemical issue.

He noted that the Syrian government will present its final notes and observations along with what will be put forth by the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)-UN joint report.

Regarding what is taking place in Aleppo, al-Jaafari cited what was stated by the US President’s Adviser Robert Malley that the Americans will prolong the war in Syria to no end, affirming that Washington and its followers in the region don’t seek to reach a truce, and that they usually want it to be temporary whereby they could supply the gunmen with arms so that the conflict will go on.

Commenting on the Syrian-Syrian dialogue in the Swiss city of Geneva, al-Jaafari indicated that it is not up to the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura to call for resuming the dialogue as he has not yet received orders in that regard, adding that de Mistura is working on prolonging the crisis instead of speeding up the return to the dialogue Geneva.
