Damascus, SANA – Within the framework of the 3rd Arab Music Festival, Damascus Orchestra led by Maestro Asem Makarem presented a musical evening on the theater of the Damascus-based Opera House on Saturday .
The Orchestra performed some wonderful oriental instrumental pieces of music composed by musician Asem Makarem.
In a statement to SANA, Head of Damascus Orchestra, Musician Mohammed Zaghloul, said that “Makarem is considered one of the most important young composers in the Syrian scene. His compositions combine between the characteristics of oriental music, academic music distribution techniques and the new musical trends,” praising the high-level expertise and accuracy of the instrumentalists’ performance.
Zaghloul found in organizing such musical concerts and evenings an important step taken by the Ministry of Culture and the General Commission of the Opera House in order to supports talented musicians, composers and instrumentalists.
Damascus Orchestra was established in April upon the initiative of musician Mohammed Zaghloul, Director of the Musical and Ballet Institutes Directorate. It brings together an elite of prominent musicians from the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra for Arabic Music.
