Putin calls for fighting terrorism along with pursuing political settlements

Moscow, SANA – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday called for fighting terrorism along with pursuing efforts for achieving political settlements in Syria, Iraq, Libya, and Yemen.

In his address to the heads of state and governments of LAS member countries, Putin said that Russia calls on the Arab League to fight against terrorism along with the efforts for the political settlements in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen and other hotbeds of tension.

“Russia is ready to strengthen in every possible way its interaction with the Arab League in ensuring regional security, first of all, in the struggle against the threat of international terrorism,” he said.

“We proceed from the fact that the efforts to confront this evil should be combined with the joint efforts aimed at the political settlement of the crisis situations in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen and other hotbeds of tension with reliance on the respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all the countries by way of an inclusive dialog and the search for national accord,” Putin added.

Concerning the Palestinian cause, Putin said that Moscow considers the existing status quo in Palestine inadmissible, and that Moscow calls for re-launching the negotiation process that will be aimed at creating an independent, viable and integral Palestinian state, adding that Moscow intends to continue providing all possible assistance in resolving the Palestinian issue, acting through both bilateral channels and within various multilateral formats.
