New polio vaccination campaign launched in Hasaka

Hasaka, SANA-A new polio vaccination campaign targeting children under 5 years old was launched on Sunday by Hasaka Health Directorate in the southern and eastern areas of the province.

In a statement to SANA, Dr. Lukman Othman, head of the primary health care department at Hasaka Health Directorate, said that the campaign targeted 38,350 children and will last till July 28th, pointing out the polio vaccine will be administered orally for children in sync with providing vaccines for children who missed shots during previous vaccination campaigns.

He pointed out that that the campaign will cover the areas of al-Shadadi, al-Hol and Tal Barak in Hasaka countryside in addition to Tal Hamis area in Qamishli countryside.

He noted that the directorate has taken all necessary measures to make the campaign a success through the health centers operating in the targeted areas in addition to the distribution of trained staff and 14 mobile health teams to rural areas.
