Coming US-Russia-UN meeting will discuss steps agreed by Kerry and Lavrov on Syria settlement, Kirby announces

Moscow, SANA – The US State Department spokesman John Kirby said on Friday the planned US-Russia-UN meeting in Geneva will deal with enhancing the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria and the commitment to the steps agreed by State Secretary John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to solve the crisis in Syria.

The United States and Russia routinely discuss means of strengthening the “ceasefire” in Syria and efforts to improve humanitarian situation in the country and find a political solution to the crisis,” Kirby told Sputnik.

He added that Washington is “committed to moving forward on the steps agreed to by Secretary Kerry and Foreign Minister Lavrov in their meeting last week.”

Kerry met with Lavrov and President Vladimir Putin last week in the Russian capital of Moscow, where they discussed concrete steps to restore the cessation of hostilities and possible US-Russian military cooperation against terrorist organizations in Syria.
