Russian airstrikes hit 50 ISIS targets, including oil sites, in Palmyra since Tuesday

Moscow, SANA – Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that the Russian Air Force hit ISIS targets in Tadmur (Palmyra) area in Homs countryside during the past two days.

In a statement quoted by RT website, the Ministry said six Russian Tu-22M3 long-range bombers that flew all the way form the Russian territory today delivered strikes on facilities and positions for ISIS to the east of Palmyra and in al-Sukhna and Arak areas in the eastern countryside of Homs.

“The strikes destroyed a command point, a militant field camp, two oil pumping sites, a significant number of enemy personnel and hardware,” the statement added.

Russian long-range bombers destroyed on Tuesday a large camp for ISIS in Palmyra, three weapon depots, three tanks, four armored vehicles, and eight vehicles equipped with heavy machine guns, in addition to killing a significant number of terrorists.

Since September 30th 2015, the Russian Aerospace Forces have carried out hundreds of air strikes against ISIS positions in Syria, which resulted in destroying thousands of targets, including facilities, explosives and bomb making workshops, command centers, training camps, and munitions and fuel depots.
