Syrian Olympiad scientific Assembly starts preparatory courses

Damascus, SANA-With the participation of 99 students from the Syrian scientific Olympiad, the Innovation and Distinction Commission launched on Tuesday activities of the Syrian Olympiad scientific Assembly at the theatre of the martyrs Daughters’ School.

The step comes in preparations for taking part in the international Olympiads in the sciences of math, Chemistry, physics, IT and biology that will be held next July.

“The Olympiad is an opportunity to create a generation distinguished with science and amity of homeland, a generation which is capable of innovation and skills in the fields of sciences and technologies,” Director General of the General Commission of the martyr’s daughters and sons’ schools Shahira Fallouh said in a speech at the ceremony.

She pointed out to the distinguished results and the successes achieved by the Syrian Olympiad in the competitions of 2015 in Asia and the world.

Chairman of the innovation and distinction Commission Imad al-Azab, for his part, said the students will undergo courses of high level training, adding that the Commission has ended all its preparations to take part in the international Olympiads after Eid al-Fitr.

He hoped the Syrian students will gain rewards and achievements on the international levels.

The assembly lasts for 3 weeks which includes theoretical lectures and practical experiments under the supervision of central scientific committees which bring together a bulk of research and scientific teachers.

The Syrian scientific Olympiad has gained 45 achievements in its latest international and continental participations.

The international Olympiad for the math will be held in Hong Kong, Physics in Switzerland, Chemistry in Georgia, IT in Russian and Biography in Vietnam.
