Interior Minister asks police chiefs to ensure security for the electoral process

Damascus, SANA – Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Mohammad al-Shaar directed chiefs of the police departments of the provinces during a meeting on Sunday to put all efforts to help make the parliamentary elections due on Wednesday a success and ensure they are conducted in accordance with the legal standards and without any problems that could affect stability.

He called for further work to boost security measures to ensure the safe access of voters to the polling stations, reiterating that the Interior Ministry has completed all the requirements and procedures of the electoral process.

Minister al-Shaar asked the police chiefs to set up joint operating rooms in all the provinces that will be ready around the clock to keep close and direct security supervision and follow up on any possible complaints.
