Zarif congratulates al-Moallem on Palmyra victory

Tehran, SANA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed confidence in Syria’s persistence to continue fighting terrorism and maintain its national unity and territorial integrity.

In a cable sent to Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem on Tuesday, Zarif congratulated the Syrian people and government on the victory achieved by the Syrian army and the resistance in defeating ISIS terrorist organization in Palmyra, expressing hope that the Syrian people will achieve ultimate victory over the terrorists and extremists.

The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces announced in a statement last Sunday that security and stability were restored to Palmyra and ISIS terrorists were expelled from its historical city-a UNESCO world Heritage Site-in a an achievement that has been welcomed worldwide.
