Moscow, SANA – Head of the Russian Committee for solidarity with Syria, Oleg Fomin, stressed that President Bashar al-Assad offered in his speech, after swearing in for a new term Wednesday, “a detailed analysis” on the events in Syria since imposing the war on it and to which some media outlets attempted to depict as a civil war.
In a statement to SANA correspondent in Moscow, Fomin affirmed that Syria has fought and is still fighting the international terrorism which seeks to overthrow Syria and eliminate its secular regime, proving that the US and NATO countries are attempting to implement a geo-political mission in Syria through their terrorist organizations.
He pointed out that the western countries have prevented the Syrians from practicing their constitutional right in voting because they knew that most of the Syrian expatriates are going to vote for candidate Bashar al-Assad.
For his part, Head of the Geo-political Issues Academy Konstantin Sivkov said that the Syrian people, under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, withstood the war imposed on their country.
“President al-Assad has shown political and diplomatic flexibility which helped avoid direct aggression on Syria by NATO countries,” Sivkov added.
