Damascus, SANA-Tourism Minister Bishr Yazaji discussed Thursday with Chinese Ambassador in Damascus Wang Qi Jian cooperation and ways of developing relations between Syria and China, particularly in the field of tourism.
During the meeting, Yazaji affirmed that Syria has been subjected to a media war aiming at distorting its image and the image of the Syrian people, then moving to be a terrorist war that affected all sectors, especially the tourist sector.
He said that a lot of tourist and historic places have been sabotaged by acts of terrorism, pointing out to the unique terrorist destinations Syria is enjoying as the cradle of heavenly religions which includes many tombs, shrines, castles and museums in addition to a civilization that dates backs to thousands of years.
The Minister referred to the importance of enhancing tourist cooperation between Syria and China, particularly in the domains of investment, marketing, training and holding mutual exhibitions.
The Chinese ambassador, for his part, described bilateral relations as very strong, showing his country’s readiness to promote the ties up to the highest levels.
