Damascus, SANA – The candidacy committees for the People’s Assembly upcoming elections in the Syrian provinces started on Tuesday morning accepting objection requests for those who submitted to parliament candidacy applications for the second legislative round and their applications were declined.
In a statement to SANA, head of the Higher Judicial Committee for Elections Judge Hisham al-Shaar said that receiving objection requests lasts for three days at the HQ of the subcommittees, adding that the date of announcing election programs and campaigns for those whose nominations were accepted will begin once the period of objection requests ends and the requests are reconsidered by the committees with the candidates getting a final acceptance receipt.
Al-Shaar pointed out that the candidacy committees finished on Monday studying the legality of candidacy applications and announced the names of those whose nominations were accepted according to the sequence of the alphabetical order for each sector separately.
The candidacy committees began on March 3rd to decide on the legality of candidacy applications which numbered 11341 requests from various provinces.
