Russian Defense Ministry: 1,593 terrorist targets destroyed in Syria in one week

Moscow, SANA – The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday that 444 sorties targeting sites of terrorist organizations in a number of Syrian provinces were carried out between the 10th and 16th of February.

Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed 1,593 terrorist targets in Deir Ezzor, Daraa, Hama, Lattakia, Homs and Aleppo in the aforementioned timeframe.

Konashenkov pointed out that terrorist organizations in Idleb and Aleppo are still receiving weapons and equipment across the Turkish borders under cover of night, and that more terrorists have joined their ranks in the same way.

He added that despite of the agreement reached last Thursday by the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) on ceasing fire, terrorist organizations have increased their activities in Syrian territories, mainly in the north of the country, adding that there are growing disagreements between terrorist organizations on the question of control over areas.

Since the beginning of this month, Konashenkov added, the Syrian Arab Army, in cooperation with supporting forces, establish control over 73 towns and villages spread over an area of over 800 square kilometers.
