Peskov: Terrorist organizations in Syria are not taking part in Geneva talks, should not take part in it

Moscow, SANA – The Russian Presidency’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that terrorist organizations in Syria are not taking part in the Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva and they should never take part in them.

TASS news agency quoted Peskov as saying that Russia should not be blamed for the suspension of the Syrian-Syrian talks in Geneva, adding that Russia is supporting the Syrian Arab Army in its operations against terrorist groups.

Commenting on a report by the Russian television which talked about the presence of Chechen Special Force units operating in areas controlled by ISIS in Syria, Peskov said The Russian Defense Ministry has provided detailed clarifications about the Russian military units involved in the anti-terrorism operation in Syria, the duration of their stay, and the nature of their operations.

He added that Russia has only federal armed forces and internal troops, and therefore the question about the deployment of forces should be addressed to the relevant authorities and one should speak about relevant federal units, not about a Chechen special task force or something similar.
