Moscow, SANA – Spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov stressed on Thursday that “achieving armistice in Syria requires finalizing lists of opposition and terrorist organizations.”
“Such work was in progress,” he said in a statement to the journalists, adding “As you may know, the theme of armistice, let us put it this way, of terminating some active operations (but not against terrorist organizations) has long been on the agenda, but for this all lists of terrorist organizations and moderate opposition organizations are to be finalized.”
He clarified that “this work has not been completed yet; the tasks had been identified and there was an agreed framework for such activities. Nevertheless, as long as certain problems remain two lists should be finalized .This is what the current work is aimed at, The process will be not easy at all and nobody had expected it would be easy.”
For his part, Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said an international meeting on Syria will be held next month.
“There is an agreement in principle between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Secretary of State John Kerry, and now we will propose to all the other participants of the international Syria support group a time and place — Munich, February 11,” Bogdanov said.
