Damascus, SANA-Health Minister Nizar Yazigi discussed on Wednesday with resident representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Syria Hana Singer means to enhance cooperation to meet the health needs of children and improve the level of medical services offered for them.
The minister affirmed the ministry’s knees to rehabilitate the medical staff to provide medical care for mothers and children in health centers and improve nutrition programs at the national level in cooperation with the international organizations operating in the health sector such as the UNICEF, including facilitating the delivery of medical aid to all areas in all provinces.
For her part, Singer pointed out that UNICEF in cooperation with the Syrian Health Ministry will continue its work to meet the health needs of children in health centers and support the government’s efforts to improve the health situation for children and meet the needs of vaccination campaigns implemented by the Ministry and other programs which are aimed at improving the health of mothers and children.
The Syrian Health Ministry and UNICEF signed a cooperation plan for 2015 with a budget of over USD 38 million. This plan aimed to achieve equal access to medical services and nutrition, with emphasis on the needy areas and groups, particularly children.
