China calls for solving crisis in Syria through dialogue

Beijing, SANA-Chinese Foreign Ministry called for solving the crisis in Syria through political dialogue, considering it as “the only way that best serves the interests of the Syrian people.”

At a press conference on Monday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said that the future of Syria should be independently decided by the Syrian people, adding “all that China has been doing is to bring the Syrian issue into the right track toward a political settlement.”

She said that a delegation of the so- called “opposition coalition” will visit Beijing in this week.

“When the UN Security Council discussed issues related to Syria, it does not matter if China voted for or against, we are voting for peace and we are committed to that the crisis must be resolved through political dialogue.” Chunying added.

She affirmed “the next stage is to work with all relevant parties, including neighbors of Syria and permanent members of the UN Security Council to make constructive efforts for the political settlement of the Syrian issue and all parties should work together and act as one in the fight against terrorism.”
