Damascus, SANA-Some 1, 155 food baskets and 1, 500 bread bags, as well as milk and marmalade, were distributed by the General Commission of Arab Palestinian Refugees in cooperation with The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in al-Yarmouk Refugee Camp near Damascus.
The batch of aid, whose distribution happened on Thursday and Friday backed by the Syrian government and supervised by the Higher Relief Committee, is meant to allay the suffering of the locals besieged inside the camp.
Director-General of the Commission Ali Mustapha told SANA that 30 patients were evacuated from inside the camp and admitted at Damascus hospitals, bringing the total number of cases evacuated since January 30 to 4, 386.
According to Mustapha, some 31, 011 food baskets and 3, 776 medical baskets have been distributed inside the camp since January 30.
The locals inside the camp who are living under a stifling siege await a new initiative to be firmed up that is brokered jointly by the Syrian state, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), as well as 14 Palestinian factions, to end a one-year-and-a-half suffering inflicted on the locals by armed groups.
