Relief sub-committee increases relief to al-Waer neighborhood

Homs, SANA- As part of the ongoing work to deliver aid and relief items, the relief sub-committee in Homs on Thursday increased the loads of trucks of relief materials entering into al-Waer neighborhood on the western outskirts of Homs city.

A source in Homs province said in a statement to SANA reporter that the relief sub-committee increased the amount of relief materials provided to al-Waer neighborhood.

This aid comes within the continued work of the subcommittee that provides aid on a regular basis to locals in al-Waer neighborhood, the source added.

Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi, who was present as relief materials entered the neighborhood, said in a statement to reporters that the continued entry of the basic materials has nothing to do with the agreement reached by the special committees about the settlement of the situation in the neighborhood on Tuesday to evacuate it of arms and militants.

Governor al-Barazi explained that the implementation of the first phase of evacuating al-Waer neighborhood of militants will begin next week, affirming that there is a positive trend to create an appropriate condition to restore security in al-Waer like the rest of neighborhoods in Homs city.

The governor pointed out that the coming period will witness settlements and new reconciliations in the northern countryside, particularly in al- Rastan area within efforts by the government to bring all neighborhoods, villages and cities back to homeland and establish a state of stability and security that allow all citizens to live normal lives in parallel with beating terrorism with an iron fist.

Armed groups have been active in al-Waer neighborhood for more than two years.

On Tuesday, an agreement between the special committees to settle the status in the neighborhood was reached to carry out the first phase of evacuation of arms and militants in preparation for the return of all state institutions next week by leaving the armed persons with their families and starting the settlement of militants’ status who want to lay down arms and return to their normal lives.
