Syrian film “The Emigrants” wins award at Arab Camera Festival in the Netherlands

Damascus, SANA- The Syrian film “The Emigrants” (al-Muhajiran) by director Mohammad Abdelaziz won the best long feature film award at the 13th the Arab Camera Festival which was held in Rotterdam city in the Netherlands on between 12 and 15 November.

The films evaluation committee at Rotterdam film festival chose “Al-Muhajiran” to be among the list of the participating films in the formal contest for long feature films during this session of the festival. The Syrian film was chosen along with other Arabic films from Lebanon, Morocco and Jordan.

The 105-minutes film tells the story of two emigrants; one searching for freedom, and the other a simple worker, who meet at New Year’s Eve at a basement in a European country. Through their conversation, the details of the conditions that forced each of them to leave his country begin to unravel.

The film is produced by al-Sharq Company for Art Production and Distribution (Nabil Touma Films) and stars actors Samer Omran and Mohammad A’al Rashi.
