Sweida, SANA- Sweida Governor Atef al-Naddaf said the authorities uncovered the facts pertaining to the abduction of secretary-general of the Sweida branch of al-Baath Party Shibli Jannoud, who was abducted in September.

According to an official source, the authorities questioned the doctor who examined Jannoud a few days after his abduction, explaining that Dr. Atef Malak said he examined Jannoud after the terrorist abductors brought him and threatened to kill the doctor and his family members if he did not cooperate.

Dr. Malak said Jannoud was suffering from myocardial infarction resulting from the stress that accompanied the abduction, adding that he recommended that Jannoud be hospitalized but the abductors refused to do so.

Malak added that he contacted the kidnappers after six days of the abduction to inquire about the patient’s health, but he was told by them that Jannoud had passed away and was buried.

The investigations and the doctor’s testimony revealed that Jannoud was kept in the house of one Raafat al-Balus during the abduction, and the confessions were relayed to dignitaries, prominent figures, and officials in Sweida province.

Jannoud was abducted on September 25th in Sweida. Contact with him was lost at around 9 AM on the 24th, and afterwards the burned wreckage of his car was found in Abd Mar Shrine area on the highway 4km southeast of Salkhad city.
