MODATEX exhibition kicks off with participation of 60 local companies

Damascus, SANA- MODATEX Exhibition, specialized in the fashion and leather goods, kicked off on Monday at Damascus-based Dama Rose Hotel with the participation of 60 local companies and many businessmen.

The exhibition is organized by the Syrian Exporters Federation in cooperation with the Exports Development and Promotion Commission, the Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside and Aleppo Chamber of Industry.

In a statement to journalists, Director-General of Exports Development and Promotion Commission Samir Esmindar said that the Commission is working on finding new ways for increasing the amounts of the Syrian exports and achieving high growth rates, particularly in the textile and cloth industry.

Esmindar said that the amount of the Syrian exports has achieved an increase of 8 percent in the year 2014 in comparison with 2013 and during the first and second quarters of 2015 the exports increased by 10 percent in comparison with the same period last year.

In a similar statement, Chairman of the Syrian Exporters Federation Mohammad al-Sawah said that the exhibition embraces different types of clothes for different ages, in addition to displaying leather goods produced by industrialists from different Syrian provinces.

Al-Sawah called upon Syrian businessmen abroad to return to Syria to contribute to the reconstruction process in it.

For his part, Chairman of the Chamber of Industry of Damascus and its Countryside, Osama Mustafa said “The Syrian economy has started to recover and there are new steps taken by the Syrian industrialists to increase their production in line with the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab army.”

Mustafa affirmed that there are joint efforts to restore the brilliant image of Syria on different levels, particularly in the economic domain.
