Minsk, SANA- Alexander Lukashenko won a fifth term as president of Belarus in the elections which were held on Sunday.
Head of the Central Electoral Commission Lidia Yermoshina said in a press conference that Lukashenko won the elections with 83.49 percent of the votes, while Tatiana Korotkevich (38) came second with 4.42 percent.
Yermoshina added that the elections witnessed a high turnout of over 86 percent.
Lukashenko participated in the elections under the slogan of “For the Future of Independent Belarus” as he asserted in his electoral campaign and the meetings he held with the voters and press that the only track for Belarus is to preserve stability, achieve development and adhere to the road of peace and prosperity.
