Moscow, SANA – Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov said the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Saudi Minister of Defense Mohammad bin Salman discussed prospects of reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
After the meeting, Lavrov told reporters that this meeting cannot find solutions to all issues related to the crisis in Syria, but it contributed to achieving a better understanding regarding the way to reach such a solution.
Lavrov stressed that all Syrian fractions should be part of the aforementioned political process, which should lead to realizing a Syrian-Syrian agreement backed by the international community.
He said the two countries stressed there must be no “Caliphate state” in Syria, with Lavrov stressing that the Russian army is operating against terrorists only, including ISIS, Jabhet al-Nusra, and the other terrorist organizations in Syria.
