People’s Assembly discusses economic, social, and services issues

Damascus, SANA – The People’s Assembly addressed a number of economic, social, and services issues and means to alleviate the suffering of citizens due to the terrorist war imposed on Syria.

During the first regular meeting of the new legislative session on Monday, Assembly members denounced the destruction of the Arch of Triumph in the ancient city of Palmyra at the hands of ISIS.

The Assembly members also called for finding a solution for the internet outage in Aleppo province and delivering petroleum products to it, finding a new mechanism for pricing medicine, monitoring market prices, and dealing with corruption sternly.

They also called for finding ways to revitalize national economy and create new job opportunities via reconstruction projects, establishing a state department for dealing with crises and disasters, finding ways to reduce the immigration of youths, compensating private hospitals damaged by terrorism, and reviewing the intervention methods employed by the Central Bank when it comes to currency exchange rates.

Other issues that were raised including the issue of missing military personnel, setting up bomb detectors in Homs city, health insurance, and addressing the phenomenon of child beggary.
