Moscow, SANA – Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the targets of the Russian air strikes in Syria are defined in coordination with the Syrian army.
Answering reporters’ questions in Moscow on Thursday, Peskov said there is a list of terrorist and extremist organizations that are being struck in Syria, and the targets are defined accordingly.
He also said the Russian air operation in Syria is being funded by the Russian side, noting that it is too early to assess the operation, under which several air strikes have been launched.
He called for ascertaining any information about the Russia Air Force’s involvement in fighting the terrorist organizations in Syria in light of the emergence of much false and fabricated information concerning this issue.
In a relevant context, Chairman of the Russian Federation Council’s Foreign Affairs Committee Konstantin Kosachev denied Western media reports that the Russian Air Force is striking what they called “the Syrian opposition”.
These reports, he said, aim at marring the Russian efforts in fighting terrorists in Syria, stressing that there is no evidence to support these allegations, whereas the Russian Defense Ministry has provided proofs that ISIS positions were struck by its Air Force.
