Moscow, SANA – Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed in a telephone conversation with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz the issue of settling the crisis in Syria and other regional issues.
The Kremlin said in a statement on Saturday that the two sides exchanged views on regional security matters, mainly in the context of finding ways to settle the crisis in Syria and building more effective international cooperation in the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and other terrorist groups.
Issues pertaining to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict given the complicated situation in Jerusalem were also discussed, according to the statement.
The Kremlin said that the phone call was at the Russian side’s initiative.
Earlier, Putin called for establishing a wide coalition against terrorism in cooperation with the Syrian government, stressing that Russia continues supporting Syria militarily to that effect and in accordance with the military contracts signed between the two countries.
