Russian women’s delegation calls for ending war on Syria

Damascus, SANA- Chairwoman of the Russian Spiritual Heritage Foundation of St. Paul, Valentina Lantseva hailed the deep fraternal and historical relations between Russia and Syria, stressing the necessity of exerting all efforts to stop the terrorist war against it.

During her meeting with Chairperson of the General Women Union Majida Qteit on Monday, Lantseva reiterated her country’s firm stances in support of the Syrian leadership and people.

“We consider Syria as our second country and it is our twelfth visit to it,” Valentina said, adding that the delegation seeks to have a close look at what is happening in Syria and will meet a number of martyrs’ families and displaced people due to terrorist acts.

For her part, Qteit said that the visit of the Russian women’s delegation comes to express love for Syria and its people and is coming in the framework implementing a mutual agreement signed two years ago between the Syrian General Women Union and the Russian Spiritual Heritage Foundation of St. Paul in order to consolidate bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

The agreement aims to train and rehabilitate women through joint courses particularly in the field of microenterprises, in addition to enhancing the psychological support for martyrs’ children.

She pointed out that the delegation will offer 2.5 tons of medicine, foodstuffs, and kids’ gifts which will arrive in the next few days and will be distributed to all provinces.

The Russian women’s delegation arrived on Monday morning to Syria in a six-day visit during which they are scheduled to hold meetings with political and religious figures.
