Damascus, SANA – Ministry of Tourism on Sunday launched the “I Belong to” initiative to support the humanitarian heritage and the national tourism sector in Syria.
The initiative invest national, cultural and religious icons through designing Syrian-themed tokens with historical and cultural indications and placing them in a number of foreign countries in coordination with the Syrian and friendly embassies, communities and organizations.
Revenues of the initiative will be used to support tourism sector and heritage sites in the country.
Minister of Tourism Bishr Yazigi said the proceeds will be used to support the tourism in Syria through rehabilitating a number of archeological sites and promoting the humanitarian tourism in the country.
For his part, Syria’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Badr Eddin Hassoun called for preserving the Syrian identity where culture was exported to all humanity, warning against systematic schemes that target the Syrian people to push them into leaving the country to be illegal migrants in western countries.
During the event, a number of tokens were sold, a number of them at a cost of multi-million SYP, the money was paid in foreign currencies to support the national economy.
