Moscow, SANA – Russia will provide more humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people, said a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
“Russia will continue providing the necessary humanitarian support to the friendly Syrian people,” the Ministry said in its statement, noting that Russia will also help the Russian nationals who are willing to leave Syria temporarily.
Russia has sent tens of airplanes to Syria carrying hundreds of tons of food and non-food materials since the crisis in the country started in 2011.
The latest humanitarian shipment arrived yesterday in Martyr Bassel al-Assad Airport in Lattakia province, consisting of 21 tons of food and relief supplies.
Bogdanov, Haddad discuss situation in Syria
On a relevant note, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed with the Syrian Ambassador in Moscow Riyad Haddad the situation in Syria.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Syrian and Russian sides exchanged during the meeting viewpoints about the situation in Syria and the region with emphasis on the necessity of reaching a political settlement for the crisis in Syria as soon as possible and the need for an active response to the terrorist threats.
