Hasaka receives 59,000 food packages from WFP in humanitarian aid

Hasaka, SANA – The full amount of food aid provided by the World Food Program (WFP) was delivered in the northeastern Hasaka province after the entry process started in August 6 through Nusaybin border crossing.

The aid as a whole includes 59,000 food packages, that are meant to be distributed to beneficiary families.

According to Issam al-Hussein, Director of Social Affairs Department in Hasaka, 48,000 food packages are dedicated to the displaced and other terrorism-affected families, while the remaining 11,000 packages will be used in emergencies.

In a statement to SANA, al-Hussein pointed out that the WFP also supplied Hasaka with 40 tons of yeast for bakeries in the province.

Last week, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) sent more than 51,000 non-food items, including blankets, mattresses, mats, rain coatings and materials for personal sanitary, to be distributed to families in need.
