Al-Jaish wins Syrian Premier League Championship

Damascus, SANA – Al-Jaish won the Syrian Premier League Championship for 2014/2015 after defeating Al-Muhafaza 2-1 and after Al-Shorta lost to Al-Wahda 2-1 during the final stage matches held in Damascus on Friday.

In Tishreen Stadium, Al-Muhafaza scored the first goal at the beginning of the second half, but Al-Jaish’s Zakaraya Qaddour scored the equalizer at the 59 minutes mark, and Al-Jaish managed to turn the tables during the final minutes of the match, with Mouayyad al-Khouli scoring the victory goal at the 92 minutes mark, raising the team’s points to 13.

Al-Wahda

In the second match of the final stage held at Al-Fayhaa Stadium, Al-Shorta lost its chance to earn the championship by losing to Al-Wahda, as it failed to preserve its lead in the Premier League ranking which it had held with 11 points.

The first goal of the match was scored by Al-Wahda’s Majed al-Hajj at the 56 minutes mark, and Al-Shorta’s Wasim Borashi responded quickly and scored the equalizer, but Al-Wahda’s Abdelqader Dakkeh managed to score the winning goal at the 87 minutes mark, depriving Al-Shorta from winning the Championship and dropping their ranking to third place, as both Al-Shorta and Al-Wahda tied with 11 points at the end of the match, but Al-Wahda earned second place due to the results of their head-to-head matches, leaving Al-Shorta at third place.
