Mikdad: Terrorists and their supporters are removed from any homeland, religion, or morals

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad said that terrorists and their supporters are far removed from any homeland, religion, or morals, calling for stopping the funding, arming, and harboring of terrorists and holding the states responsible for terrorist actions accountable.

In a phone call with the Syrian TV on Friday, Mikdad said Syria has always opposed terrorism and warned against it and its spread to other Arab country time and again, adding that it’s not surprising that terrorist attacks took place on Friday in several states, particularly in Kuwait and Tunisia.

The Deputy Foreign Minister voiced sympathy with the victims of the terrorist attacks and their families, even as terrorists are escalating their attacks on Syria, saying “the Syrian people and leadership feel deep sadness and sorrow over the terrorism that struck Kuwait and Tunisia… once again, we offer to His Highness the Emir and the great and beloved people of Kuwait our deepest condolences and sympathies.”

Mikdad said that Syrians are fighting terrorists in Hasaka, Deir Ezzor, Daraa, and other areas, and that those terrorists are supported by the Turkish regime, Israel, and the ruling family in Saudi Arabia, in addition to other sides including the U.S. and European states, adding “the terrorism that the encourage to kill innocent is bound to backfire on them.”

He noted that the international community should recall that Syria sent hundreds of letters to the Security Council warning against the possibility of attacks similar to Friday’s attacks taking place, adding that if the world doesn’t stand united against the terrorism embodied by ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra, the world will drown in chaos, murder, and bloodshed.

Mikdad went on to say that the people of Tunisia are exerting efforts to fight terrorism, but what is needed is coordination among Tunisia, Kuwait, and Syria to combat terrorist organizations.

The Deputy Minister reiterated Syria’s readiness to do all that it can to push towards combating the terrorism targeting Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, and Tunisia, adding that those who support terrorism, including the French leadership represented by President Francois Hollande and Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, along with other European and U.S. leaders, must cease their support for terrorists and their condoning of those who fund, harbor, and arm terrorists, otherwise these states will run the risk of being subjected to reprehensible terrorist attacks.

“We can’t be lenient with governments that support terrorism and only wake up when that terrorism affects them and call for more coordination and hollow decisions at the Security Council,” he concluded.
