Hasaka Governor: Situation is stable, army and defense groups are in their positions confronting ISIS

Hasaka, SANA – Governor of Hasaka Mohammad Zaal al-Ali affirmed on Friday that the city of Hasaka is “safe” and the situation there is “stable”, adding that the army units are firm in their positions.

Speaking in a statement to SANA on Friday, the governor stressed that the army units, security forces and popular defense groups are standing firm in their “strategic and protective” positions to defend the city and its locals.

Hasaka city, which is located in northeastern Syria, is facing a fierce assault by ISIS terrorists that started on Wednesday in which the terrorists tried to infiltrate neighborhoods in the city and are being jointly confronted by the army units, the popular defense groups and the security forces.

The terrorists are using the civilians as human shields and exposing them to danger, and media outlets linked to the terrorist organizations have been circulating false news about them controlling areas in the city.

Al-Ali called on the locals of Hasaka city to stand their ground and not heed the “rumors” and “lies” spread by the tendentious media outlets.

Earlier yesterday, a source in Hasaka province said big numbers of Hasaka locals have joined the Syrian army to defend their city against ISIS.
