Moscow, SANA-Secretary General of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Dmitry Mezentsev said on Thursday the organization welcomes Syria request to join it, adding the request will be studied according to SCO regulating rules.
“I had the honor to receive the Syrian ambassador in Beijing where he handed me a message from Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister including the request,” Mezentsev told SANA correspondent in Moscow.
He added “the family of SCO has strongly welcomed Syria request to join the organization.”
SCO brings together 14 states, among them Russia, China, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
