Moscow, SANA-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed on Thursday that solution to the Middle Eastern issues should be realized through national comprehensive dialogue, saying that the Islamic state in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) organization poses a threat to the security and stability of the region and the world.
“Russia seeks to resolve the crises in the region, including the crisis in Syria, according to the principle of national dialogue and the people’s self-determination,” Lavrov said at a press conference with his UAE counterpart Abdullah bin Zaid Al-Nahian.
“There is a remarkable rapprochement in the stance between Russia and the US after the latter’s statement on the necessity of finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria according to Geneva communiqué of June, 2012,” Lavrov added.
He affirmed that Russia won’t support the US backing and boosting “the armed opposition.”
