Homs, SANA – Ministry of Social Affairs, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), kicked off a project on family follow-up and reunion of the children separated from their parents in Homs on Tuesday.
The project aims at establishing a data-base in the fields of protecting children who have been deprived from family care and studying their cases on the ground so as to come to integrating them into substitute families and to offer all moral and material support to them.
Coordinator of the project at the Ministry of Social Affairs Mais Ajib said that recent assessment indicated the existence of huge number of children who were separated from their families as a result of displacement of families triggered by the armed terrorist groups’ acts.
Ajib added that the data-base aims at developing the system of family support and follow-up and children reunion in the framework of the international and humanitarian conventions on child protection.
Representative of the Child Protection Department at the UNICEF stressed the organization’s support to the project to make it a success.
