Lattakia, SANA – Interior Minister Gen. Mohammad Ibrahim al-Shaar hailed the steadfastness of the people of al-Heffeh in Lattakia in the face of terrorist groups.
During his visit to the town on Friday, al-Shaar stressed that preserving Syria’s identity, land, and flag is a national duty for all the Syrians, and that the actual purpose of the events taking place in Syria is to fragment the region into small sectarian and bickering city-states to achieve Israel’s interests and justify its presence as a Jewish state in the region.
For his part, Governor of Lattakia Ibrahim Khidr al-Salem said that the locals of al-Heffeh are an example of the nature of the Syrian society in terms of its tolerance and friendliness.
In turn, Pastor of Saint Michael’s Church, Father Michael Hanna Nasseir, said the plots concocted against Syria aim at eradicating its history, legacy, economy, and civilization.
The event was attended by a number of political, religious, and civil figures.
