Osi: National Reconciliation Committee must attend international conferences on crisis

Damascus, SANA – Head of the National Reconciliation Committee at the People’s Assembly Omar Osi said that the Committee represents a large section of the Syrian people, and therefore must have a presence in dialogue sessions, particularly in international conferences.

During a Committee meeting on Monday, Osi criticized what he described as a “marginalization” of the committee, noting that UN Envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura met representatives of the opposition and the government’s supporters, but didn’t meet with the Committee, calling for holding a meeting with de Mistura after the conclusion of the meetings in Geneva.

He also called on Committee members to pursue diplomatic efforts and contact European parliaments to urge them to pressure their governments that continue to support terrorists in Syria.

Other members said that since its inception, the Committee didn’t achieve anything and that it failed to assume its intended role, calling for holding meetings with the Foreign and Expatriates Minister.
