Mikdad and Abdullahian discuss latest political and military developments in Syria

Tehran, SANA – The latest political and military developments in Syria and the changes in the regional and international arenas were discussed on Tuesday during a meeting between officials from the foreign ministries of Syria and Iran.

The meeting took place in Tehran, with Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad highlighting the successes which the Syrian army is making in its war against terrorism and voicing confidence that victory will definitely be achieved thanks to the support of Syria’s “real” friends.

The talks, which brought Mikdad with Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African affairs Hossein Amir Abdullahian, touched upon means of ensuring that the Syrian people and government remain steadfast in the regionally and internationally-backed terrorist war facing them.

In his remarks on the situation in Yemen, Mikdad said Syria supports the Iranian 4-item plan for settling the crisis in Yemen, including an immediate halt of the Saudi aggression without preconditions and launching a dialogue among the Yemeni people.

For his part, Abdullahian renewed Iran’s support for Syria to continue its fight against terrorism and to come to holding a Syrian-Syrian dialogue that preserves the Syrian sovereignty.

The need to continue mutual coordination and consultation in a way that best serves the interests of the Syrian and Iranian people was stressed during the meeting.
