Syria and Iran discuss boosting cooperation in reconstruction stage

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Public Works Hussein Arnous and Iranian Ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani discussed on Monday the means to implement signed agreements between Iran and Syria and how Iranian companies can contribute in the reconstruction stage.

Arnous pointed out that studies are being made for reconstructing the infrastructure in Syria which was damaged due to terrorist acts, in addition to working on enhancing the capabilities of Syrian construction companies to support national economy.

The Minister also invited Iranian companies to contribute in service projects in the reconstruction stage.

For his part, Sheibani pointed out that both sides are now forming joint technical committees to carry out projects proposed in the bilateral economic cooperation agreement and to coordinate regarding the contribution of Iranian companies in reconstruction.

Syria and Iran signed in March an economic cooperation agreement covering the fields of energy, industry, agriculture, and joint investment, with emphasis on enhancing the role of the private sector in this regard.
