Planning Commission, WFP sign project on food security in Syria

Damascus, SANA- International Cooperation and planning commission signed on Thursday a project on “Family food security in Syria” with the World Food Program (WFP) through establishing a system to monitor a periodical food security.

“The project aims at boosting understanding on the impact of crisis on the status of food security for the affected families, outline and develop suitable recovery responses to support the families and find data to build genuine partnership with farmers,”  Rima Qadri, Chairwoman of the Commission told SANA.

She added the project serves the food security through analyzing the demands of local markets.

WFP Regional Director in Syria Matthew Hollingworth said cooperation between the Program and the Syrian government has been continuous for 50 years, adding that efforts will be concentrated during the next stage on the agriculture sector to re-run production and support local societies.
