Measles vaccination campaign to begin on Sunday

Damascus, SANA – The Health Ministry, in cooperation with the World Health Organization and UNICEF, will launch on Sunday April 19th a campaign for vaccination against measles that will be held alongside a campaign for providing vaccines to children who missed shots during the national vaccination campaign.

Health Minister Nizar Yazigi said that the Ministry finished preparations for the campaign, allocating 5,916 workers that will provide vaccines via health centers and mobile teams, with emphasis on providing shots for children in temporary housing centers.

Yazigi asserted that the vaccines procured by the Ministry adhere to stringent standards, one of which is that they are used in the country that produces them, are approved by UNICEF and the WHO, and are subjected to tests in internationally-approved labs.

The measles vaccination campaign is scheduled to be concluded on April 30th.
