Governorates, SANA- With the participation of 355 male and female students from different governorates, the final qualifying tests for the 2025 Syrian Science Olympiad were held Saturday. The aim is to select the national teams that will represent the country in upcoming international Olympiad competitions in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Informatics.
Organized by the Excellence and Creativity Authority, the four-hour tests were conducted simultaneously across examination centers in universities within the provinces.
Participants included first-year high school students who qualified from the current season, as well as top-ranking students from the Junior and Youth Science Olympiad in mathematics and sciences, and the Programming Marathon for children and youth.
Dania Qabbani, Director of the Syrian Science Olympiad at the Excellence and Creativity Authority, stated that the Olympiad continues its mission to discover scientific talents through these qualifiers.
She highlighted efforts to expand participation to younger age groups to identify exceptional talents early.
The scientific committees will evaluate and calculate the final scores to determine the national rankings. Winners will be announced based on their standings in each scientific subject.
According to Qabbani, the national teams will include 15 students each in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, and up to 21 students in informatics.
The 2025 Syrian Science Olympiad competitions began on October 19 of the previous year, with 4,069 students from various provinces participating.
