Damascus, SANA-The Minister of Water Resources, ,Hussein Makhlouf, discussed with the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Sudan, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar al-Bushra, and his accompanying delegation means of enhancing cooperation between Syria and Sudan in the water field.
That came during, Makhlouf stressed the importance of improving relations and achieving the best cooperation formulas to develop work in the water sector, achieving optimal investment of surface and groundwater resources, benefiting from the experiences of the two countries and exchanging expertise.
al-Bushra ,for his part, pointed out the importance of cooperating with Syria, benefiting from its experiences, and exchanging expertise with it in the agricultural and water fields, in a way that contributes to achieving optimal investment of water resources, and has a positive impact on the production of agricultural crops, achieving food self-sufficiency for the two brotherly countries.
Director General of the Arab Center for Studies of Dry Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), Dr. Nasr al-Din al-Obaid, pointed out the importance of focusing on conducting agricultural research, increasing interest in it, and supporting it to develop varieties of crop seeds resistant to droughts and climate changes.
