Damascus,SANA- Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh,met Thursday Mr. Hasan Ahmad al-Shahi ,ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates in Damascus.
Sabbagh stressed the strength of the brotherly relations and ties that bring together Syria and the UAE in various fields especially at the parliamentary level.
Sabbagh praised the UAE’s positions in supporting of Syria and the efforts exerted by the UAE Embassy to move relations between the two brotherly countries forward at all levels.
For his part, Ambassador al-Shahi stressed the vitality of relations between the two countries, and said that he will do everything possible during his work in Syria to achieve the prosperity of relations for the benefit of the brotherly Emirati and Syrian peoples.
In the same context, Sabbagh met with the Abkhaz ambassador to Damascus Muhammad Ali and stressed the strength of relations between Syria and the Republic of Abkhazia and appreciated Abkhazia’s positions supporting Syria in its war against terrorism.
Ambassador Ali thanked Syria for its positions in support of his country’s independence, calling for activating parliamentary diplomacy and enhancing joint cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transport, tourism, trade and other fields for the benefit of their peoples.
