Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of Nations Calls on “Israel” to withdraw from occupied Arab lands

Caracas, SANA-The Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of UN affirmed the necessity of the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from the occupied Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan, and the necessity of stopping the genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, expressing condemnation and deep concern over “Israel’s” continued attempts to ignite and escalate tension in the region through its repeated attacks on Syrian territory.

At the conclusion of its activities today in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, with the participation of Syria, the second meeting of the group’s national coordinators adopted a political declaration in which countries of the group stressed their firm and complete commitment to the Charter of the United Nations and its principles and purposes, which are indispensable for maintaining and strengthening international peace and security, and achieving a more peaceful, prosperous, just and equitable world.

The group called on the Israeli entity to withdraw from the occupied Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan, and the implementation of the relevant United Nations resolutions, most notably Resolutions 242 and 338 and Resolution 497, which considered  that the seizure of lands by force is not permissible in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law, and that the Israeli decision to impose its laws and jurisdiction on the occupied Syrian Golan is null and void and has no international legal effect.

Syria was represented to the meeting, which started yesterday, by the group’s national coordinator and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, ambassador Qusay Al-Dahhak, and the Syrian Ambassador to Venezuela.
