Damascus, SANA – The textile and leather clothing exhibition MODATEX Spring-Summer 2015 opened on Sunday at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus, with the participation of over 100 clothing companies.
The two-day exhibition is organized by the Syrian Exporters Federation in cooperation with the Economy and Foreign Trade Ministry.
Director General of the Public Establishment for International Fairs and Exhibitions Samer Khalil said that this exhibition presents an opportunity for promoting local clothing products after four years without any significant activity in the fields of exhibitions in Syria.
For his part, head of the Syrian Exporters Federation said that this exhibition proves that industries in Syria are recovering, particularly textile industries, hoping that it will play a part in restoring the luster of Syrian industry, while the Federation’s Secretary Mazen Hammour said the exhibition’s goal is to have businessmen from the industrial and commercial sectors meet and conduct business directly.
In turn, Chairman of the Board of the Damascus and Damascus Countryside Chamber of Industry Samer al-Debs hoped this exhibition will play a role in marketing products locally and abroad, adding that there are plans to hold several similar exhibitions in the capitals and cities of Arab and friendly countries to promote Syrian industries.
