Syrian, Iranian talks to strengthen cooperation on water sector

Baghdad, SANA- Water Resources Minister Hussein Makhlouf discussed Monday with Iran’s Deputy Energy Minister for Water Affairs Mohammad Javanbakht means of boosting water cooperation between Syria and Iran.

This came on the sidelines of 4th Baghdad International Water Conference, with the two sides underlining the importance of technical cooperation and exchange of expertise in the water sector, especially areas of the spatial treatment plants of sewage and subsurface irrigation due to their importance at the environmental and development levels, in addition to the tangible positive effects of applying modern technologies in these fields.

Member of the Syrian delegation participating in the conference and the Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah and the Iranian Ambassador in Baghdad attended the meeting.

Baghdad International Water Conference kicked off Sunday in the Iraqi capital under the slogan “Towards a better water future: Together we can” to discuss water challenges and international relations and strengthen partnerships in the vital file.
